CHICAGO, IL (February 27, 2025) — Edged, the fast-growing sustainable infrastructure provider, celebrated a major milestone yesterday with the grand opening of its new ultra-efficient data center in Aurora, Illinois, the second largest city in the state and a vibrant business center in the Chicagoland area. The ribbon cutting ceremony commemorated the site’s evolution into a dynamic digital hub with the debut of the first of three data centers planned for the 96 MW high-tech campus.
Strategically located at 2835 Bilter Road in Aurora, the campus is designed for high-density Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads and equipped with advanced waterless cooling and ultra-efficient energy systems. The event was attended by Mayor Irvin, City of Aurora officials, leaders from the economic development community, local electric utility provider ComEd and key project partners.

The Edged Chicago campus uses significantly less energy than traditional data centers and consumes zero water for cooling. Outfitted with the ThermalWorks waterless cooling system, the campus is expected to save nearly 380 million gallons of water each year at full buildout compared to conventional data centers. The modular system supports densities of up to 70 kW per rack with air cooling and 200 kW per rack with plug-and-play liquid cooling integration while delivering industry-leading energy efficiency (average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15 portfolio-wide).
